‘DOUBLE CROSS’ by Alessandro DI Pietro and Jacopo Miliani @ CAB – CENTRE D’ART BASTILLE

According to the current scientific terminology, the “double cross” is a genetic process, which allows the creation of a hybrid entity from two already existing hybrid entities.

The CAB – Centre d’Art Bastille (Grenoble) and Viafarini DOCVA (Milan) are collaborating in order to produce an exchange project as part of PIANO, the Franco-Italian curatorial platform established by the initiative of the two transdisciplinary intuitions.

The artistic director of Viafarini, Simone Frangi, and the curator invited by the CAB, Vincent Verlé, have invited to their respective institutions two Italian and two French artists. The aim of the initiative is to create a double project, contaminating each one’s artistic research. At the CAB – Grenoble are exhibited Jacopo Milani and Alessandro di Pietro’s work.

Jacopo Miliani’s research is developed mainly through installations, photographs and performances. His work questions the role of the representation system of cognitive and empirical processes and analyses the complex relationship between images and their representation.

Alessandro Di Pietro considers the limits of his own action as the only way of acting, employs different processes of creation and produces variations within these limits. Through this practice he creates a protocol which imposes restrictive rules and leads to a purely speculative mechanical work. These repetitions allow him to set up new concrete landscapes and to develop an “empirical geography”, translating it in a physical space.

Being the effective interbreeding of these researches, the project developed for the CAB allows the writing of an original common narration.
