Barış Çavuşoğlu presents his new solo exhibition evim yuva at BENTA, an independent art space in Istanbul.
The exhibition will be open to visitors from April 25 to June 15, 2025. Curated by Serra Duran Paralı, the exhibition text was written by Günseli Yalçınkaya, and exhibition photography was done by Barış Özçetin.
evim yuva approaches the concept of home not just as a shelter or space of protection, but also as an emotional, functional, and technological system. Drawing from memories of the house he grew up in and its mechanical order, Çavuşoğlu presents an installation composed of two main sculptures. Made from materials such as fiberglass, steel, and electronic circuits, these works intersect architectural systems with industrial forms. Featuring an industrial robot arm, a button-pushing mechanism, and fenced enclosures, the installation evokes a sense of “interior space,” while questioning the conflict between the illusion of security inside and the reality of the outside world.
The sculptures are connected not only formally but also conceptually. They function as parts of an operating system woven with electrical cables. The outdoor works, inspired by the futuristic forms of Japanese animation, remain linked to the control system—they exist as its extension.
The emotional dimension that stands out in Çavuşoğlu’s work invites viewers to reconsider the definition of “home,” while questioning the individual’s role within structured systems. The exhibition sheds light on both internal and external realities through the bridge the artist constructs between personal memory and a technological order.
