Iacolare’s works explore what lies between clearly defined states: transitions, inbetween spaces, and the traces left behind.

He primarily works with animal-derived materials, particularly leather remnants from tanneries and agricultural operations, as well as found materials that have often already fulfilled their original purpose and are regarded as remains or waste.

Their history remains visible and, through the artist’s handwork, is placed within a new context.
In this way, attention is directed not only towards the finished object, but also towards the material itself and the processes of use, change, and transformation.

The material lives on, changes, and ages alongside the human being. New meaning emerges through the interplay of body, skin, and their surfaces — as well as through the light that lies beyond them. Here, light is understood not merely as a physical source, but as an attempt to make hope and protection visible, while at the same time honouring the materials used.

In the end, there is always light.
