General Expenses is pleased to present Optimal Tonus, a duo show by artists Billie Clarken and Georg Nordmark.

“Bringing together a set of deceptively simple ideas through synthetic artworks that sharply reflect how behavior can be shaped, this exhibition explores the urgent need to develop almost animal like instincts, not just to survive in today’s art world, but more importantly, to thrive in it.

Through a range of strategies, Clarken and Nordmark introduce a series of challenges that invite viewers to navigate them through their own perceptions. These works ultimately serve as reminders that, while contemporary life may present barriers to sensory enjoyment, there are still no absolutes and within that uncertainty lie subtle clues toward relief.”
