In “Prezențe în absență”, Dimitrie pres- ents a new series of works which meditate on and deconstruct grief, mourning, and personal memory. Each piece manifests as a portrait of those no longer with us, figures who shaped Dimitrie’s life. These works stand as more than tributes—they are vessels for conversations silenced by rigid or apathetic structures of society and capitalism. Their individual stories gain new meanings, becoming universal symbols which resonate with present times.
The exhibition explores the multifaced process of mourning. Within Dimitrie’s works, mourning transcends the confines of private grief; it unfolds as a deeply social and political act—an essential practice through which collective identity, memory, and justice are continuously shaped and reimagined. In the swirling currents of our contemporary times, marked by crises and movements for transformation—mourning becomes a vital lens, inviting us to confront, to listen, and to engage with the world’s unfolding narrative.
“This series is not about death, but about continuity. About how the people we love don’t completely disappear, but remain within us—through the way we relate to them, to their stories, to what they left be- hind.” – Dimitrie Luca Gora
