Digital art is lifting to a real artistic level after 30 years, including the foundations that always characterized the arts. Curiosity, fantasy, wondering, composition and imperfection.

The Liebaert Projects Foundation for Contemporary Art asked Olga Fedorova to create an installation in their building in Kortrijk and a show presenting her newest lenticular printed works.

ìTHE INEVITABILITY OF A STRANGE WORLDî was born and opened last Wednesday,  November 16th 2016.

Olga works with digital technology as opposite to many prior artist whose works were less digital in nature. Her compositions are defined by their color pallet, their use of humanoid characters and ëthe steady avoidance of the sensational as suchí.

The huge installation in Liebaertís hall features burned and blackened trunks and a blue bride dummy. It is strongly questioning the viewer while walking through the installation. In the many details that Olga added, the focus shifts from a macro-scale to almost microscopical whisperings in the ears.

Through an obscure display her work ìblue lightî evokes fear, fairytales, and the idea of discovering the unknown – and even a possible future.

In the neighboring two rooms, humanoids are having a party. Those female/asexual beings – somewhat between a human body and a robot – are the main roles in Olgaís fantasy. While walking around in front of the works, looking at them from different distances and perspectives, being attentive to the changes luminosity, they strike you as almost real – standing, sitting, laying down – as you just entered their strange world.

Those who attended the opening were over-enthusiastic to become part of Olga Fedorovaís ëparallel universeí.

There is no doubt that Olga is an authentic artist with a great creative positioning and attitude. If she swapped her the paintbrushes and her paint pots for a computer, she keeps unveiling previously unseen universes in the most exciting way. Universes that root in earth but tell us something about our future and yet unknown, remote planets. She therefore questions our world, and will keep on doing it for a long time. As great art always does.
