Gruppo Cristella, Cortemaggiore

From March 6 by appointment only Mon-Sat

Photography by Flavio Pescatori

The project is located on the three floors of the Gruppo Cristella headquarters and is designed to be enjoyed over time by employees and users in transit in the work spaces.

The works have been selected following a deliberately elliptical and paradoxical criterion: if the company was an entity, constituted and driven by those very processes and operations that it carries out on a daily basis, which works from the Collection would it choose? And how would it want them to be narrated?

Following this perspective, thirty works were selected on the basis of their connection to ideas of movement, transmission of energy and information and in relation to their circular shape, in reference to wheeled transportation, the cylindrical shape of tanks and the company’s own brand, “COIL,” i.e. reel, spiral.

Each work is accompanied by a caption, a text that does not exhaustively illustrate the artist’s intentions but suggests various points of observation designed to expand in time and space the relationship between the work and the viewer. The captions, while dealing with different themes in different tones and languages, are interconnected to form multiple narratives.

In the exhibition, the public will also be able to actively construct multiple modes of visit, following suggestions for juxtaposing the works inspired by the structure of the gamebook, a framework that presents the possibility of choosing between two options, two different paths on which to continue the fruition by discovering relationships, themes and affinities among the Collection’s photographs, sculptures and paintings.

The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual publication, in Italian and English, published by Postmedia Books, which collects the texts and documentation of the works, and which is for all intents and purposes a gamebook.
